CHICAGO ALUMNAE
Officers, past-officers and chairmen
of committees of the Chicago group
of Michigan alumnae women, met for
supper Tuesday night, Nov. 22, at the
College club in that city. At the
business meeting which immdiately
followed the supper, Mrs. W. D. Hen-
derson, executive head of the alumnae
council, who was present at theI
meeting as a guest, presented the
final details of the Women's league
building campaign.
The members of the Chicago group
have been most active in their work
for the Women's league and Chicago
has ecelled all other centers in gifts
on the last half million dollars, and
falls but a little below Detroit on
contributions (luring the entire cam-
paign. The Chicago gifts total more
than $175,000 while Detroit totals
more than $200,000.

Bids to the general contractors for
the new Women's league building
were mailed Friday from the offices
of the architects, Pond and Pond, of
Chicago. The bids were mailed to a
carefully selected list of contractors,
each being given four weeks in which
to return the bids. With this length
of time it is hoped and expected that
the contract will be let between
Christmas and New Years.
"If this can be brouglit about," was
the statement of Mrs. W. D. I-ender-
son, executive head of the alumnae
council, "the actual work of con-
struction will be started during the
first part of January, possibly when,
the students return from the holi-
day vacations."
Lipsticks, powder puffs and combs
have been ruled out of the court room
