More than 400 speeches were made
by student speakers in nearly every
county of the state last year in the
extension work of the Student Christ-
ian association. Ezra Y'oung;, '26,
chairman of the deputation cormmit-
tee, said yesterday. It is expected
that this year's work will exceed last
year's in volume and extent, for re
quests for speakers have been corning
in all week, in answer to an announce-
ment sent to Rotary and Kiwanis1
clubs, Y, M..C. A. groups, and high I
schools all over the state.I

curing t'he services of a group of more
than 60 undlergraduates,-, wh-ich in"-

.group will be drawn the per.sonnel
for the various programs.
The chairman- has received a re-'
quest from Ithaca, Mich., for student
speakers to appear at eight consecu-
tive monthly meetings. From Oxf ord,
Mich., has come a request for a speak-
er to address a father and son ban-
quet.
So varied and extensive are the
calls, .tlha:,e work is divided among
five members of the committee. John
Van Ooeveting, '26, has charge of fur-
nishing speakers for all Rotary and.
Kiwanis luncheon programs. Gerritt
Fielstra, '27, secures foreign student4s
to speak on subjects relating to their
own country and contrasting condi-
tions in America with them.
Edwin Davis, '26, supplies athlete;
and 4ebaters to speak to H-i-Y clubs
and city Y. M. C. A. groups on various
phases of University life. Martin
Mol, '29, arranges programs for high.
school assemblies, sending athletes
and leaders in campus activities to ac-n
quaint , prospective undergraduates
with various phases of University life.
