With continued reports of a well
balanced football squad at Vanderbilt
university, tickets for the Vanderbilt-
Michigan football game to be played
on October 13th, have taken a decided
influx in sales and are running a close
third in popularity to the Marine and
Minnesota games.
All; reports are loud in their praise
of the Conmodores and as near as can
be gathered, Coach Dan McGugin has
atnother one of his championship
team s. Vanderbilt has not lost a game
of -football in two years and was the
only team last year to hold Michigan
scoreless. Most of the McGugin veter-
ans are back this year and if advance
informaton is correct, the Conmmo-
dores will give the Yostmen one of
the hardest battles of the year.
Word has been received in Ann Ar-I
bor that the Tennesseans are follow- I
ing their team to Ann Arbor in great
numzibers and one or more special
trains w.ill be provided for the trip
from NasbvilIe., it is expected that
more than four-fifths of the Vanderbilt
student body will be iQ the stands
when the opening whistle is blown.
Coach Mcugin is pointing his squad
for the Michigan encounter and "Seat
Michigan" has become a by-word on
the Vanderbilt campus.

His first call for candidates answer-
ed by nearly 40 men, Coach Fsher of
the Reserve football squad entertains l
high hopes of rounding out a bunchl
of footballers who will make tile Var-
sity step andl show the Freshmani
squad real football.
Urged. by a chance of promotion to
the Varsity squad thie Reserves are
working hard. E~very afternoon in til
west corner of tihe baseball diamnond'
50 huskies work at fundamentals.
Passing, falling on the ball, and block-
ing are claiming most of the :caches'
attention. i
The Reserve squad, although seldIom
heard about, plays an important role
in the development o'f the Varsity
team. It is an unusual year that dloes;
not sup~ply at least one mnan fronl the
Reserve squad for the Varsity. S n-
plying men for the Varsity is liuw-1
ever only of secondary itnportance.I
The principle value of tile Reserv el
squad is in ser ving as a practid : team
for the Varsity. The frequent. scrim-
mages between tile two squads give
develiops ,spine, courag e, sellj:f
confidence, a.nd the ability
to think quickly, decide and
act.
