HARRY DAVIS HAS OFF DAY
COMING IN TWELFTH IN RACE
Completely upsetting the dope and
displaying an exceptionally powerful
aggregation, the Ohio State cross
country team emerged victorious in
the tr angular meet held over the
Ferry field course yesterday morn-
ing by the low score of 36 points,
while the least the Wolverines were
able to turn in was 40, and Illinois 44.
Wikoff, Ohio State star, and Payne,
also of the Buckeye aggregation, ran
a dead heat for first andsecond place,
traveling the course in the fast time
of 26 minutes 521-5 seconds. Both of
these men ran exceptionally strong
races, finishing several hundred yards
ahead of the whole field. Third place
was copped by Mieh'er, 'Illinois cap-
tain, who breasted the tape 28 sec-
onds behind the winners.
Captain Arndt ran a great race for
the Maize and Blue, leading his team
mates to the tape and landing fourth
place. Arndt extended himself to the
limit and finished with a sprint, nos-
ing out Marzulo of Illinois ,who came
in directly back of *Arndt. Marzulo
was followed by Mike Reinke,' who
was the second Wolverine to finish.
Piper of Ohio State finished in: sev-
enth place, one second behind Reinke.
Rearick, Michigan, Makeeder, Illinois,
and Shenefield, Michigan, were the
next to come in, finishing in the order
named. Davis, who finished in
twelfth place, had a poor day and was
unable to strike his stride throughout
the race.
