Seatle, Wash., Mar. 22.-All Europe
must become a group of united states,
before the present European crisis can
be done away with, according to Prof.

The speaker declared that a sense of,
national sovereignty is the chief cause
of fatal conditions in Europe today,
" The tmofst dangerous aspect of the
situation is the hidden preparation
for a new war," Will Europe form

MAE EIGHT SECTIONS
OF GRAVEL HI6HWAYl
Under the direction of Otto V.'
Adams, of Detroit eight sections of
gravel road, to be used for test pur-
poses have been constructed on Wash-
tenaw county river road and are now'
under observation to determine the
most economic methods of, construct-
ing compact, dustless gravel roads.
These sections have been built in
different proportions of~ sand. and gra-
vel, with different dustlayers on each.
They are being tested to see which +
will ,stand up, the- best under traffic,
and retain dustless properties ,longest;.t
Gravel road's, while being displaiced
by. concrete in the more congested
districts, ar'e nevertheless used ex-
tensively in this and other states. The
problems of. overcombing their dis-
advantages is of great importance to
the taxpayers because they are, ac-
cording to Mr. Adams, one of the most
economic type~s of roadway.
The two greatest difficulties area
that the roads are dusty and that
they will not stand up well und'er
heavy traffic, he says. The half mile
stretch of test road was completed11
late last fall and with the comling of
the spring traffic. the observation of
the. results will 'be of more value, it'
is expected.
