An effort to find a solution for some of the farmers' problems without
resorting to legislation was begun when the Second National Cooperative
Marketing conference opened in Washington, with Robert W. Bingliam of
Louisville, Ky., presiding. The results of a survey of the Northwest and
Middle West wheat belts just completed was given to the conference in an
address by Frank 0. Lowden, former governor of Illinois. Mr. Bingham
who is owner of the Louisville Courier-Journal, is responsible for the cooper-
ative organization of the tobacco growers.

Prof. L. A. Hopkins, of the engineer-
ing college, chairman of the board of
trustees of the Student Christian as-
sociation, has appointed the commit-
tee to head the fresh. air camp of this,
year, it was announced yesterday. Thej
committee will include Prof. F. M.
Menefee, of th engineering college;
Dean E. H-. Kraus, of the pharmacy
college; Dr. M. A. Ives, Lewis Rei-
miann, '16, camp director ;and Harold
Coffman, executive secretary of the
association.
A meeting will be held for 30 of the
camp leaders at 8 o'clock Saturday,
night at the home of Reimann who
wvas camp director last year. Plans as
to. tag dlay, and securing men to lead
the camp this summer will be dis-
cussed at the meeting.
