ATTNDNNUALLUNCH
BURTON EXPRESSES HOPE FOR
LEAGUJE BUILDING FUND)S
NEXT YEAR
More than 500 University" women1
and Michigan alumnae attended the1
annual luncheon of the Women's
league which was held yesterday noon
at Barbour gymnasium. The luncheon
not only marked the first anniversary
of the launching of the University of
Michigan league campaign but alsof
served as a farewell party for 'Dean
Myra B. Jordan.
President Marion L~. Burton, who gave
the first address after the luncheog,,
said that although the Regents had
specified that within five years the
women must* have the funds to start
the building, it was his hope and con-
viction that one year from the coming
Commencement the money would have
been procured. He also urged the wo-
men not to rely too much on teas and

dances to raise the quota. If the
campaign for the University of Mich:
igan league is to be a success, Presi-
dent Burton said that somne one per-
son must take the responsibility on
his shoulders to go quietly and per-
sistently to each and every individual
and get the money.
That women are most certainly. a
normal part of the U niversity' of
Michigan and that they must event-
ually be given the status quo to which
they are now entitled was another fact
which President Burton emphasized,.
