Stake Saturday
Percy Collins of Chicago arrives in
Ann Arbor Saturday to play Al Tay-
lor for the amathur balkline billiard
championship of the United States.
Collins is the present title holder
having won the championship at the
Boston Athletic club, taking every
game he played in the tournament. He
also recently defeated McAndless, the
former champion, in a 1,500 point
game, making the 1,500 points to his
opponent's 1,015 ,and scoring a high
run of 175.
Collins was scheduled to play Tay-
lor some time ago but due to a death
in the immediate family of the for-
mer the match was. postponed.
The local cue artist has been show-
ing excellent form of late having made
a run of 200 in- practice.
The game will be played at 8 o'clock
Saturday night on table one at the
Union and will consist of 350 points.
After the game Collins will give a dem-
onstration of a few fancy shots.
COACH AND DIVERS
LEAVE FOR MEET
This afternoon at 1:16 o'clock
Coach Drulard and t o fancy divers,
White and Goldsmith, will leave for
Grand Rapids for practice prelimin-
ary to the meet tomorrow night with
the Y. M. C. A. of that city. The re-
mainder of the team will leave at the
ame time tomorrow afternoon. The
other men chosen are Porter, Adams,
Koch, Brooch, . Gilmore, Robertson,
Lewy, and Babcock. These men
should report to Manager Elliott at
1 o'clock at the Michigan Central
station. .
There is still a possibility that one
or more of the freshmen who were
refused permission to make the trip
may go. Efforts are being made to
secure consent to their making the
trip. I' this permission is obtained
one or more of the 10 now picked for
the trip will be dropped, but unless
the men are informed to the contrary
they will be expected at the train.
A large crowd is expected by 'Ath-
letic Director Rivers of ..the Grand
Rapids "Y," as the visit of a Michigan
team to the city is a rare occurrence.
A number of the alumni now living
there have signified their intention
to be on hand and give the team their
support, and the "Y" team is always
sure of a big number of rooters.

In shape for a banner season. It is
necessary that a goodly number of
men come out for drill, as this is the
best assurance of a championship
team during the next three years.
This is a chance for the men to show
that they are really determined that
Michigan shall not again have a "jinx"
year such as the one through which
we are just passing. Therefore, it is
felt that every freshman on the cam-
