f For the information of men who ex-
pect to traeout for this -year's Union
opera, and to obviate the difficulay an-
nually met with by the officials of the
opera with regard to eligibility, The
Daily is publishing a list of the rules
governing eligibility in the University.
In speaking of his dealings with the
students at the. time of "Red Feather,"
Mr. E. Mortimer Shuter stated that too
many were inclined to declare them-
selves eligible without definite. knowl-
edge of their exact status, or, if hav-
ing such knowledge, were too prone to
conceal the actual facts of their stand-
' ing with the hope of getting by the
committee.
Such action, asserted Shuter, was
not only troublesome for the men
handling'affairs, but retarded work on
,the opera. He cited an excellent ex-
ample of this in the cast originally
'chosen for the prduction of "Come
On, Dad," a cast which had recorded
itself as entirely eligible at time of
tryout but which proved to be about
50 per cent ineligible.
Officials in charge urge that all men
read the rules below carefully, and if
they come under the ban of Any of the
articles, to refrain from trying out,
and thus save both the committee and
themselves trouble.
