MILE RELAY TEAM
LEAVES FOR PENN
Paul Burkholder Taken Suddenly Ill;
King Messner to Run in Place
Michigan's mile relaytteam left yes-
terday afternoon to compete. in the
Penn Rp.lays at Philadelphia Satur-
day. Burkholder was unable to malre
the trip because of sudden illness.
King Messner went in his place.
The team which will uphold the
Maize and Blue at Philadelphia will
be composed of Butler, Wetzel, Wheel-
er, and Messner. Although beaten by
the fast Illinois quartet at the Drake
Relays, the Micl1igan team made the
excellent time of 3:24 on that 'occa-
sion and there is a possibility that
conditions at Philadelphia will favor
the Wolverines.
Illinois drew the 13th position in
the race to be held Saturday, and su-
perstitious Michigan supporters are
counting on this jigx to defeat the
Illini. The Wolverines drew fifth
place in the race.

IN FRATERNITY BALL SERIES
Four games were played in the fra-
ternity indoor baseball series ,Thurs-
day l afternoon on south Ferry field.
Phi Kappa Psi won from Lambda Chi
Alpha 10 to 3, Theta Delta Chi took
an over time contest from Sigma Nu,
8 to 6, Kappa Sigma defeated Alpha
Sigma Phi 16 to 15. Delta Tau Delta'
won an easy game from Kappa Beta
Psi. Xi Psi Phi won from Phi Beta
ri 13 to 7 Wednesday evening on the
Vashtenaw diamond. -
J LIT BALL CANDIDATES TO
MEET ON SOUTH FERRY FIELD,
All candidates for the J-Lit baseball
team should report at 3 o'clock this
afternon on south Ferry field. Mana-
ger Rorick is anxious that alk men
come out immediately as games begin
next Wednesday and as much prac-
tice as possible must be had before
that time. Men should' bring their
own gloves and give their name and
the position that they' play to the-
manager on the field..
