of the linemen, under the direction of
Assistant Coach Douglass, he sent

injury, however, is not serious and he
will not be out of the contest.
SIGNAL CORPS MEN
I S S U E CHALLENGE
All S. A. T. C. football teams and
professional teams have 'been chal-
lenged to a game by the Fourth Signal
corps, wno are represented by an elev-
en, recently put into the field. F. H.
Pfrommer is the manager.
This is the first such challenge of
the season and the probability of its
benig acepted is good. Although there
are few football teams representing
the various companies of the S. A. T.
C., there are numerous professional
elevenes who are finding it hard to get
competitipn.
The team representing the signal
corps men, although without any
playing experience, is composed of
many old football veterans, mostly for-
mer professionals .and high school

stars, and will form worthy competi-
tion for any local aggregation. The
team is both heavy and fast.
SPRINT MEN WORK
OUT WITH JOHNSON

314 S. State St.

Practice, for men trying out for the
sprints, was continued yesterday aft-
ernoon, under the direction of Carl
Johnson. Men in the distance events
went through their regular cross
country jot, while the track was being
used by' Johnson's squad.
Of those who have made their ap-
pearance so far this year Meese of last
year's freshman track team seems the
most promising. He is not the only
one of ability, however, as Lukins,
Hopkins, and Krause are also show-
ing up well.
The next regular practice for short
distance men will be tomorrow, but
all who appear this afternoon will
be taken care of. If the men do not
appear for practice the lockers which
they have been using will be forfeited
to some of the men now unable to se-{
cure accommodations in the club-
house.
