FORESTERS TOGREVEL
IN WEEK-END OUTING

Foresters will hold their big an-
nual field day and barbecue this week-
end at Third Sister lake. Today at
12:45 o'clock the forest rangers
will start their walk from une Natural
Science building with their packs
over their shoulders.
Tonight they will pitch camp, after
which stories will be told in the for-
esters' ."John Bunyan" style. The
barbecue dinner will take place at
noon Saturday. A quarter of beef
will be cooked and served according
to forestry custom, under the super-
vision of E. Gallup, chief cook. Im-
mediately after this feast, Prof. Fili-
bert Roth will talk on the ways and
customs of forestry life. After the
talk, demonstrations of making and
breaking camp, portaging, canoeing, I
and packing will be given.
Prof. R. S. Lovejoy, of the forestry
department, will compete against Mr.
J. H. Pottinger. instructor in forestry.
in a sour-dough hot cake contest Sun-
day morning. Much betting has been
made on the outcome. Sunday after
noon the foresters will indulge in
fishing, swimming and playing games.
At night they will assemble around a
big fire to listen to the forestry club
band and to have their big sing. Camp
will be broken Monday noon.
S. R. Black, chairman of the gen-
eral committee, desires that every-
one who contemplates making the
trip be at the Natural Science build-
ing at 12:45 o'clock today with blan-
kets, a cup, plate, knife, fork and
spoon.

More than 100 members of the Col-,
lege of Pharmacy will leave this
morning for Detroit, where they will
spend the day inspecting the Ford
Motor Car company and the Freder-
ick Stearns & Co. plants. They willt
be tendered a banquet at the latter
place.

The 'condition of Prof. John R. Allen,
of the engineering college, who was
injured recently at his farm northwest
of the )city, was reported improved yes-
terday. Professor Allen was able to
get outdoors during the day for the
first time since the accident.
