Civic association has been appointed
Ias 'a delegate from this city, to a con-
vention of the "Safety First Federa-
tion of America," to be, held October
19 and 20, at the Hotel Ponchartrain
in Detroit.'
The convention is significant be-
cause of the fact that it, is the first
national convention of this organiza-
tion which has for its motto, "The Cori
servation of Life, Limb and Property."
Gets $300 lWinages from Railway Line
William Tuttle was awarded the
sum of $300 Wednesday afternoon in
his suit against the D., J. & C. Rail-
way company.' He sought $5,000 for
injuries sustained by him at Cooper's
crossing in September, 1912.1

CITY MAY ANNEX NEW STREETI
At the me'eting of the supervisors
held in the court house yesterday, a
petition was received from the County
Grange, to have the basement of the
court house furnished as a rest room
for out-of-town people, to be operated
by the Civic association.
The request for a local option elec-
tion which was received' Tuesday, was
referred to a committee which will in-
vestigate the petitions and report the
first of next week.
A petition has been filed with the
supervisors asking that a stretch of
land on West. Liberty street be incor-
porated within the city limits in order
to care for the expansion of Ann
Arbor.
M. A. C. Professor to Talk to Society
Prof. T. R. Taft, of M. A. C., will
address the Washtenaw Horticultural
society at its next annual meeting at
2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon, to
be held in the council chamber of the
city hall. His subject will be "orchard
Possibilities in Michigan." and the
nature of the address will make it of
special interest to students and others
interested, in forestry.
Prof. Filibert Roth, of the forestry
department, will make a short address
which will be followed by the annual
election of officers of the society.
