Outdoor gymnasium work in base-
ball and archery will be carried on
this spring in the field at North Uni-
Versity avenue and SouthrTwelfth
street opposite Barbour gymnasium,
owing to the work now being done on
Palmer field which makes it unfit for
use. Ultimately Miss Evans plans to
have three or four tennis courts for
the use of university women put in on
this field, which, with the six new
courts planned on the improved Palm-
er field site and the two in connection
with the Newberry hall residence, will
make the facilities for this sport un-
excelled by those of any women's col-
lege or university in the country.
Manuscripts submitted in the Stylus
undergraduate short story contest are
due in the hands of Professor F. N.
Scott, 1351 Washtenaw avenue, Satur-
day, April 24.

WORK ON NEW DIAMOND FOR
WOMEN BALL TOSSERS STARTS
Regrading of Lot Will Be Completed
by End of Spring
Vacation
Michigan's feminine athletes will find
themselves in possession of a first-
class baseball diamond when they re-
turn from the spring holidays, as work
has begun on the vacant lot at the cor-
ner of North University avenue and
Twelfth street.
The new field was made necessary
by the regrading of Palmer field, which
has rendered use of the old diamond
impossible for the present. It is pos-
sible that both enclosures will be re-
tained for the use of women students
interested in the national game.
