IIs 'SOME' HUNTER
Back in the s'ummer of '89 when big
game hunting, was an everyday occur-
rence with the young men of the day,
eight young fellows who are now
prominent men in this country organ-
ized_ a hunting trip in northern Colo-
rado and southern Wyoming,.
Prof. H. E. Riggs, of the civil engi-
n~eering department was one of the
young huntsmen, and another" was
his friend and classmate Governor
H~erbert Hadley, who is now visiting
him here.
The other members of the party
+were General Funston, William Allen
White, Prof. W. S. Franklin, of Le-
high,. Prof. Q. C. Franklin, V. L. Kel-
lbgg, Entomologist at Leland Stan-
ford, and A. L. Wilmot now a regent
at the tniversity of Kansas.
Prof. Riggs when asked, to tell some
of his experiences on the hunt, said
that the most impressive incident that
he could remember was the time Gov.
Hadley shot a bear cub and camne back
t~o camp at a highrly accelerated rate
with "the old lady after him."
