A SMALL MOMENT.
Every man has his small moments.
The following excerpts from Ralph
Davis' Column in the Pittsburg Press
on May 8, show the man at his worst:
"Field ng H. Yost is against summer
baseball. Does Hurry-u' come into
court with clean hands? Can he prove
that all his Michigan gridders are
what they claim to be? Can he?
"Of course, you've heard of the foot-
ball player who learnedl to read after
he entered Michigan's training house."
This is the sort of smallness that
should not be tolerated in newspaler-
dom. It does no good, it is unfair, un-
truthful and ignorant. It can make
nothing but enemies for the paper that
prints it. What are the 3000 Michigan
alumni living in the vicinity of Pitts-
burg thinking when they ead such
"humor" ,as this?. Can a newspaper af-
ford to make enemies so uselessly?
There is much talk of newspaper
ethics." Is it out ol place to (question
Mr. Davis?
CAMPUS APPRECIATI OI.
There is a slight predispostitn on
the part of sone of the members of
the band to be pessimistic regarding
the campus appreciation of their ef-
forts. They point to the small attend-
ances at the concerts.
But this is no criterion. On Friday
night the band will give its first lawn
concert of the year. Thousands will
gather on the walks and scatter them-
selves about the ampus, just as they
have done in past years. Butt there is
a surprise, a most pleasant surprise,
awaiting them this year. The band of
today, is a band. It is perfectly uni-
formed and carefully trained. It is the
band that will go to Harvard.
Appreciation? Mark us, wait! Wait
for the twilight concerts, and there
will be an outburst of enthusiasm and
appreciation, such as the campus .has
seldom seen. That band will touch a
tender spot, Friday night.
CAMPUS MILES
Gie ine strength, oh Lord!-
Wesley.
