-As no trace has been found of the
picture by 'Helen Hyde, which was
stolen last week from the art exhibit
in Memorial hall, the authorities of the
Ann Arbor Art association think they
will have to replace it, if such a thing
is possible. Nothing has been done as
yet, inasmuch as those in charge of the
exhibit still hope that the picture will
be returned.
Dr. W. B. Hinsdale, dean of the hom-
eopathic medical college will return
today from Chicago, where he has been
attending 'a meeting of the College
Alliance of the American Institute of
Homeopathy. Dr. Hinsdale also at-
tended a congress of state medical
licensing boards from all the states
that were holding a convention there.
-Prof. Filibert Roth, dean of the for-
estry department, has accepted an in-
vitation from the forestry club of To-
ronto University, to deliver the princi-
pal address at the annual banquet of
the club on March 5.
-Professors Thomas C. Trueblood,
and Richard D.T. Hollister, of the ora-
tory department will give extension
lectures tonight and Friday night,
Prof. Trueblood presenting "Julius
Caesar" in Bay City and Gran Ledge,
and Prof. Hollister appearing in Mac-
beth" in Dewitt and Lansing,
-The soph pharmic class elected the
following officers yesterday: president,
R. G. Arner; vice-president, A. J. Hal-
gren; secretary, 0. A. Brines; treasur-
er, E. W. Crysler; athletic manager,
R. M. McGregor. The president ap-
pointed the following social commit-
tee; W. L. Seibert, chairman, T. C.

Kerr; W. D. Cochran.
-Soph engineers will hold a smoker
at the Union next Tuesday night. The
speakers for the occasion will be Pro-
fessors W. D. Henderson, and J. R.
Allen, of the faculty. Tickets are now
on sale, and may be purchased from
members of the committee at 25 cents
each.
-Several members of the faculty of
the biology department are at pres-
ent engaged in research work of va-
rious kinds, and during the coming
months, a great many papers covering
various phases of scientific investiga-
tion will be sent out from the univer-
sity.
-Wright's saxophone trio has been
procured for the annual spring formal
party of the Barristers, Vulcans and
Druids which will be held at the Union
on Friday evening, March 6. The hall
will be redecorated for the occasion.
Frank Murphy, '14L, is the general
chairman of the affair.
-The-University of Michigan Forester,
the quarterly published by the students
of the forestry department, was issued
yesterday. Dean Filibert Roth has an
article, in which he gives the opinions
of graduates in the field as to how the
forestry department could be improv-
ed. Prof. P. S. Lovejoy, of° the faculty,
has an article on the recent National
Conservation congress at Washington.
-Bids for the new science building.
now being let by Architect A. C. Kuhn
of Detroit, will be discussed at the re-
gents meeting on March 27. Final ac-
tion on the new lit-medic course will
be taken at this time also.
-The cold weather has interfered con-
siderably with the construction of the
roadbed for the electric railroad that
will connect the Michigan Central
tracks with the new university power
house and storerooms. It spite- of the
delays, it is expected to have the spur
connected by the latter part of May.
The bridge across Washington street
has been completed.
-A series of tests have been conduct-
ed from the car in the naval tank, cal-
ibrating the current meters for gaging
streams. By means of propellers at-
tached to the car, an accurate test can
be made of the meters, which in turn
are used in estimating the rate of
current in a stream of water.
President Accepts Alumni Invitations
President Harry B. Hutchins ac-
cepted three invitations yesterday to
alumni banquets to be held in April.
He will go to Kansas City April 4,
Springfield, Ill., April 7, and Chicago
April 23. Deans M. E Cooley, H. M.
Bates and J. R. Effinger will probably
attend the Chicago banquet,
