This week's attraction at the Gar-
rick theater, Detroit, will be a big New
York Winter Garden production, en-
titled "The Passing Show of 1913."
Quantities of pretty girls, several able
comedians, and many elaborate scenes
constitute an offering that should pack
the theater at every performance. The
cast contains such prominent names
as Charles and Mollie King, Conroy
and Lemaire, Laura Hamilton, Ernest
Hare, and Swan Wood.'
AUo ACCIDENT KILLS LAW
ALUMNUS AT SALT LAKE CITY
Word has been received that John
Franklin Heron, 'lOL, was killed in an
automobile accident, at Salt Lake City,
on January 24. Heron was a native of
Denver, Colorado, was a member of
the Delta Chi fraternity and the Rocky
Mountain Club. He was captain of the
freshman law baseball team in 1908.
Heron married Miss Minnie E. Foley
of Ann Arbor after taking his law de-
gree and returned to the west.
Railroads Want More College Men
Of the 50 youngest officers of the
Pennsylvania Railroad 78 per cent are
college men. Of the 100 next young-
est set of officers 60 per cent are col-
lege graduates. These figures seem to
indicate a strong tendency of railroad
management to select young men of
college education for responsible po-
sitions. This belief is strengthened
by the order recently issued by the
Santa Fe railroad, which requires that
only graduates of engineering schools
be employed in its civil engineering
service.
