dred to five hundred dollars.
But aside from-nthe material motives,
there are other reasons whly every
nineteen twelve graduate should in-
dulge himself to this extent. The pres-
ent is a time above all times, when the
Union needs every particle of aid avail-
able; not only for its own intrinsic
worth, but also for its cumulative val-
uie, by way of effect i4 setting a fash-
ion. It is in the power of the present.
senior class to establish a precedent
f'or others to come; to make it the
-.roper thing to become life members
of the Union upon graduation. Fur-
thermore, the actioni will be effectual,
as an 'ndication to those who have al-
ready graduated, that the students
are sincere.
The campaign contemplates the ac-
quisition of one million dollars, which
is to be used, partly for the erection
of the new building, and the rest for
endowment purposes. Consequently,
!lhe financial problemn of the Union for
All time, is one that is to be settled
no.It follows accordingly that this
opportunity is likely to be thre only~one
of moment whereby the undergraduate
of today can demonstrate any feelings
of gratitude he may have for the M1ich-
igan Union.
