deserving praise. We believe that the
old time methods have disappeared
from the campus for all time and, with
these two years as precedents, think
that all future generations of candi-

MUSIC AND DRAMA
Bailey and Austin.
When a musical play can satisfy
such blase critics as Acton Davies,
Charles Darnton, Alan Dale, and Ash-
ton Stevens of the leading New York
dailies, and 'W. L. Hubbard, Percy
Hammond, James O' Donnell Bennett
and Burns Mantle, of the leading Chi-
cago papers, it comes pretty nearly
being 'worth while.'
"The Top O' Th' World," with Bail-
ey and Austin in the leading fun rol-
es. did this. On its New York prem-
ier and subsequent Chicago opening it
did not receive a single 'adverse crit-
icism.
In addition to 'going over big' with
the critics and the public, it introduced
as musical comedy stars, Fred Bailey
and Ralph Austin, two comedians who,
previous to the launching of this at-
traction, had spent their whole life-
time in vaudeville (to be polite say
'vode-veel').
Fred Bailey is one of the original
team of Bailey and Madison, knock-
about dancers, who, during their part-
nership, played every vaudeville the-
atre of importance in the civilized
world. They at one time played a con-
tinuous engagement of three years in
Europe, South Africa, Russia and
Australia and created a veritable fu-
rore in all those countries.
Ralph Austin is the originators of
the big act known for years as "The
Tossing Austins." Ralph Austin's
brother died while the act was abroad
(1905). Ralph finished his Euroneap
time with the act. Two men who
worked in the act with he and his
brother returned to America and join-
ed hands with Fred Bailey. The team
of Bailey and Austin is now six years
old.
They are acknowledged to be the
cleverest team of comedians in the the-
atrical business and their remarkable
ability, has gone a long way to put the
capital letter on the word 'success'
for "The Top 0' Th' World."
With seventy people in the company
and the original tremendous scenic
production "The Top 0' Th' World"
with Bailey & Austin (themselves)
will be the attraction at the New Whit-
ney Theatre tomorrow, October 16.

Campaigning Methods.
It is with a feeling of joy that The
Daily desires to express itself upon
the evident change in campus politics.
This feeling is due partly to the fact
that The Daily believes that it had
some share in bringing about this
change. Not so very long ago almost
every office on the campus was earned
