iasit would be manifested at the
fist eetion and the choice finally de-
terined. If no one secured a imajor-
ity the fina.l selection could be made'
from betwen the two who show the
greatest strength by voters unhamper-
ed by the multitude of candidates that
the preen appetite for offce seems
to produce.
Lastyear the senior lits had too
man~y presdeial candidates, a new
electiont was ordered principally be-
cause the majority of the cas seem-
ing squabble came a split that dis-
rupted the class and left a breach that
can never be entirely closedi. For
the past two years a triangular figh~t
for the senior law presidency has re-
sulted. in a tie th~at n~ecessitated a sec-
ond' election. Last year the third
class was the better satisfied because
of the thorough opportunity it had to
mjake its selection for that mnost im-
portant office, the senior presidency.

Campus Primaries.
A suggested constitutional amend-
ment providing for a novel method. of
electing a class president was pre-
sented to the senior laws' yesterday
afternoon that is worthy of the high-
est commendation. We bespeak for it1
fvorable consideration not only at the
hanids of senior laws but from all
oth~er classes. In brief the plan pro-
vides that $hould- any candidate for
the presidency fail to secure a major-
ity of the votes cast the two standig
highest in the count shall be voted
upon at a subsequent election the
others being dropped from the ballots.
The virtues of such a scheme are
obvious in view of conditions pres-
ent and past. It is of course appli-
~cab~le only where three or more seek
thle presidency. It would prevent the1
election to office of a man distasteful
to a majority of the class. No longer
cou~ld the less able candidate ride to
high office on the shoulders of a 'few
henchmen while men of greater abil-
ity~ divided the vote of a thoughtful
and conscientious majority. In case
one man is clearly the choice of the
