CINCINNATI (AP) - Darrell Evans
doubled to launch an eight-run San
Francisco fourth inning and completed
the outburst with a two-run homer last
night, powering the Giants to an 8-5 vic-
tory over the Cincinnati Reds.
Evans rapped a single, a double and
his seventh home run to extend his hit-
ting streak to 12 games and raise his
average to .330.
Winner Fred Breining, 4-3, gave up
four runs in seven innings and got relief
help from Greg Minton with none out in
the eighth as the Giants recorded their
eighth victory in the last nine games.

CLEVELAND (AP) - Juan
Eichelberger pitched an eight-hitter for
his first American League victory and
Manny Trillo drove in two runs and
scored one as the Cleveland Indians
beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 last
night.
Eichelberger, 1-1, in only his second
start since being acquired from San
Diego in an off-season trade, struck out
one and walked one. All eight hits off
the right-hander were singles. He lost
his shutout in the ninth inning on Jorge
Orta's RBI-single.
