Riding the waves
Waving seems to be the "in" thing among presidential candidates these
days. President Carter waved Wednesday night at an Equal Rights Amend-
ment fund-raising dinner in Washington. Minutes later, Sen. Edward Kennedy
waved to the same crowd. Ronald Reagan also waved Wednesday, flapping
his wrist at a Washington crowd. And independent candidate John Anderson
waved yesterday in Pittsburgh, wearing a baseball cap. Reagan was in the
capitol to meet with Republican members of Congress. The former governor
said yesterday he has not yet decided on a 1980 running mate, and his chief
of staff said he should not rule out moderates who take stands-that alienate
conservatives. Senators Howard Baker of Tennessee and Richard Lugar of
Indiana, George Bush, and Rep.
Jack Kemp of New York are said to
be among the top candidates on
HA VE A NICE Reagan's list, although he said he
"hasn't ruled anyone out."
