Depo-Provera is 99.7% effective.
Not only is it 99.7% effective, but you need just
1 shot every 11 to 13 weeks to protect you
from pregnancy. So, unlike the Pill, Depo-Provera
is not your every day birth control.
Depo-Provera does not protect you from
HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases.
You shouldn't use Depo-Provera if you could be
pregnant or if you have had any unexplained
periods. You should not use it if you have a
history of breast cancer, blood clots, stroke, or

using Depo-Provera have side effects. The most
common are irregular periods or spotting. Many
women stop having periods altogether after a
few months. You may gain weight when using
Depo-Provera. About two thirds of the women
in clinical trials reported a weight gain of about
