--Best Frat House with a
Liquor License:
Pi Kappa Rick's
This local bar never fails to attract
the best in frat crowds that are never
interested in listening to the bands
that play there. But they have cheap
beer!
Best Concert to be
Sprayed with Bodily
Fluids:
GWAR, atHarpo's in De-
troit, Oct. 28, 1995
If you want to be sprayed with
blood and other bodily fluids, noth-

ing can beat GWAR.

Best Performance Three

of a Band Member:
Blind Melon, St.

Best Place for Trash:
Harpo's in Detroit
Harpo's in Detroit is the biggest
haven for trash in the western hemi-

Best Place to Pretend
You're a "Real World"
Cast Member:
Not Another Cafe
The place, affectionately known
as the NAC, looks like it was de-
signed by MTV, for Pete's sake.
You've got your velvet couches,
marble tables - everything you
need to drink some java, peruse a
book or take in one of their alterna-
tive shows.
Best Place to Catch
Quality Rock'n'Roll
Shows:
The Blind Pig
The Pig is the real gig in town
for an intimate performance.

sphere. Recent shows include War-
rant, Motorhead and GWAR.
WorstConcert:
Bush, Feb. 28 at the
Palace of Auburn Hills
Generic grungemeisters blow.
Enough said.
Worst Live Cover Song:
"The One I Love"

Concert:
David Bowie at the Pal-
ace of Auburn Hills
The washed-up rocker couldn't
hold the crowd's attention with his
inferior new material.
Best Display of Old
Butt:
Tie between Ozzy
Osbourne and
Angus Young (guitarist
ofAC/DC)
Both metalheads gave their
crowds full and quite saggy moons
in the rock'n'roll tradition.

What happened to this David Bowie of
old? Maybe he's just floating in his tin
can..

Angus Young,

lead guitarist of rockers AC/DC, is a dork.

Best Coffee:
Espresso Royale Caffe
There are like 50million coffee shops
in Ann Arbor (or maybe it's more like
five, it's all so confusing), but Espresso
Royale Caffe stands out above all the
rest. Maybe it's because their employ-
ees have such great hygiene. Or it could
be the coffee.
Best Burgers:
Blimpy Burgers
Hey, forget the Whopper, man. For-
get the Big Mac and the Rally burger
and all that. If you're looking for a real
slice of beef, Blimpy Burgers is the
best.
-Best Fries:
McDonald's
Apparently Ann Arbor isn't a home
fries kind of town. We like our fries
thin, anemic and dripping with grease.
Mmmm ... McDonald's here we
come.
Best Pizza:
the Cottage Inn
If those vines painted on the wall
don't draw you in, the pizza will. From
low-fat to loaded with toppings, the
Cottage Inn has a pizza for everyone.
Best Hot Dogs:
Red Hot Lovers
Hey, how come no one voted for the
freelance hot dog vendor in front of
Michigan Book and Supply? Red Hot
Lovers is great, of course, but you have
to look out for the little guy.
Best Wings:
Mr. Spots
Spots cooks up wings with an an-
cient recipe passed down through eight
generations, beginning with Great
Grandma Mildred Spots, who claimed
that an angel visited her in the night and
gave her a divine mission to devote her
life to the frying up of chicken. Well,
not really, but it's wings we're talking
about here. We had to make up some-

thing exciting.
Best Low-cal:
Salad Days
Salad Days is a haven for healthy
eaters. Their salads, soups and sand-
wiches are not only low-cal, they're
also pretty darn tasty.
Best Cheap Beer:
Rick's American Cafe
Rick's seems to do a good busi-
ness, and perhaps that is due to the

Stucchi 's
Good thing Ann Arbor has two of
these award-winning ice cream shops.
Nothing like a refreshing ice cream
cone while you're walking to class in
that balmy Michigan weather.
Best Chipati:
Pizza House
A Pizza House chipati is not as cheap
as, say, a McDonald's salad. Good thing
it's large enough to feed you for an
entire day and good enough to come
back for again and again.
