Peace in.the Middle East has not come quickly, nor will it come easily. The events of the past
few days are but an echo of the past and a picture of the future if nothing is done to change the
true problems facing this area.
Giving up the Gaza Strip was an easy move for Israel. They did not want it. Palestinians today
are still dependent on Israel for income. In the West Bank and Gaza, unemployment is much greater
than 50 percent. Every time the Israeli government bars entry by Palestinians into Israel, workers are
