Counting the BoA2 ballots is an
annual chore that is generally con-
sidered by Daily staffers to be
something "almost like fun." The
job would be flat-out impossible
were it not for the wags among our
voters who just can 't take things
seriously. Herewith we present the
Best of those responses, with a
hearty thanks to everyone who
took the time to fill out a ballot.
Best Burger
The vegetarians asserted them-
selves in this category, but "Taco
Bell" was the most startling response.
Best Pizza
In a college town, what kind of bozo
thinks the best pizza is at "Farmer
Jack's?"
Best Subs
"Trident" and "General
Dynamics" were legitimate conten-
ders in this category.
Best Seafood
One responded voted for his per-
sonal favorite sea-born entree, "Raw

Best Greek Food
"McDonald's?" Oh, yeah...come to
think of it, their "McFeta" is terrific.
Best Breakfast
"Cap'n Crunch," "Pop Tarts," and
"Beer," garnered a vote apiece. It's
good to know that our readers are get-
ting their minimum daily
requirements of sugar and hops.
Best Late-Night Eats
One desperate soul chose "Amoco."
There's nothing like the sound of coins
in a candy machine at 4 a.m., is
there? Another voter likes "Peanut
Butter and hot dogs."
Best Desserts
"Mojave" almost got one voter's
ballot invalidated. We also received
this revolting confession, "None -
give me the runs." We're considering
"Best Diuretic" for next year.
Best Cookies
Dan Thompson says his are best.
Funny, nobody else voted for you,
Dan.
Best Bagels
A lot of voters scrawled "New
York." Wake up! You didn't get ac-
cepted at Columbia! You're in Ann
Arbor, Michigan, paying just as much
as some shmoe from Michigan is

Lobster." And we were
used to raw oysters.

bia. And right now, he's eating the
best bagel he's ever tasted.
Best Hot Dogs
We got one vote for "any cheap
turkey franks." Turkey - it isn't just
for Thanksgiving anymore.
Best Place to Take the Folks
"Metro Airport" was popular, but
one brave soul recommended
"Jason's in Windsor." We're sure.
Mom will just love the way her
American dollar stretches.
Best Place to Take a First Date
One person, who probably knows,
picked the Michigan Ensian
darkroom, which happens to be direc-
tly below where this is being typed. If
our readers want to test the place out,
we hope they keep it down a bit.
Best Men's Clothing
Vote came in for "K-Mart" and
"Jump suits with Purple Ties." O.K.,
just don't hang around the Daily of-
fices.
Best Women's Clothing
One male voter responded
"Lingerie (or nothing at all)" Well, if
you'd never seen it before, you'd
probably think it was tremendously
exciting, too.
Best Tailor
Somebody voted for "Geoff

BEST ORIENTAL FOOD
Sze-Chuan West
While this Chinese champ is a hop,
skip, and jump from the campus area,
it edged Middle Kingdom and China
Garden by one vote. Sze-Chuan is the
west side story.
BEST MEXICAN
RESTAURANT
Chi-Chi's
Although it's somewhat removed
from the campus area, Chi-Chi's
managed to draw votes from students
who favor south-of-the-border type
stuff. Newcomer Brandy's finished a
strong second, but fans of burritos,
chimichangas, and deep-fried ice-
cream have spoken.

BEST NEW
RESTAURANT
Brandy's
But even though Brandy's is not the
burrito capital of Ann Arbor, the
voters made this restored Main Street
landmark their choice for best
newcomer. Brandy's mix of Mexican
and American foods has spiced up the
Ann Arbor dining scene.
BEST PLACE TO TAKE

The Gandy Dancer
One voter captured the essence of
the category by writing "to the
cleaners." The best place to go when
MomandDadcanbetrickedintobuying
is the Gandy Dancer, the restaurant
down by the railroad tracks. The
silverware is really pretty there. The
food is even better.
BEST PLACE TO TAKE
A FIRST DATE
Bicycle Jim's
This charming upper-story em-
porium narrowly beat out "to bed,"
fortunately. Bike Jim's features a
varied menu, pleasant ambiance, and
is just the place for those who might
like to get to know the people they
want to get to know.
