The PGA Tournament Players
Division apologized to newspa-
pers in February after it had
mailed a cartoon in connection
with the 1976 TPC.
The cartoon had fine like-
nesses of Jack Nicklaus and Al
Geiberger but the type lines un-
der the golfers had been re-
versed. Nicklaus won the TPC
in 1974 at Atlanta while Geiber-
ger took the 1975 event at Colo-
nial in Texas.

MIAMI ((UPI) - You can get
away with murder in Florida-
if you did it between June 29
and Oct. 1, 1972.
Killers, who committed at
least 13 murders in Dade
County and several of whom
are known or suspected, cannot
be prosecuted, according to
State Attorney Richard Ger-
stein.
GERSTEIN attributes the loop-
hole to the U.S. Supreme Court
and a ruling of the Florida Su-
preme Court. On June 29, 1972,
the U.S. Supreme Court "cre-
ated a hiatus in capital punish-
ment" by declaring it illegal,
Gerstein said.
The Florida Legislature rein-
stated capital punishment Oct.
1, 1972. But the state Supreme
Court ruled subsequently that,
since there was no capital pun-
ishment during the three-month
period, then there were no cap-
ital crimes, and murder thus
fell into a lesser category sub-
ject to the two-year statute of
limitations.
Attorney General Robert She-
vin confirmed the situation
Thursday. It involves all mur-
ders committed in Florida be-
tween June 29 and Oct. 1, 1972.
Shevin said he is unable to de-
termine the number of murder
cases involved throughout Flori-
da.
