Make your nectarines happy

Nectarines, fruit of the gods-
or at least a juicy snack on a
hot day. Maybe you slice them
up with sugar and milk and sav-
or them slowly. Or maybe you
wolf them down. In any case, a
special nectarine party deserves
a special cookie, a slightly sugar-
ed cookie, one that melts in your
mouth with the nectarine slices.
Thanks to Cecily Brownstone,
an unliberated but knowledgeable
cook at the Associated P r e s s
The Daily opens its first recipe
column with Soul Shortbread
Cookies and Nectarines. It's easy
and quick. If you start your cook-
ies now, you'll have crumbs on
your face in less than an hour.
