THE SUMMER DAILY

Nixon tells students
'God bless America
From AP and UPI Dispatches
ORLANDO, Fla. - In a speech laced with patriotic hyperbole
P. esident Nixon yesterday told the graduating class of Florida Tech
the American egovrnment has never been stronger either at home
or abroad.
He said the POW , iwho "cane back standing s raight, saluting
the flag of the United States of America and saying 'od less Amer-
ica'," proved that nothing is basically wrin with the country.
TIE PRESIDENT'S SPEECHI - delivered at a college described '
by his aides as "solid middle America' "- did not specifically mention
the Watergate scandal which has envelped his administration.
Instead, he chose "What's right with America" as a theme, con
ceding that the country has problems both at home and abroad, but
assuring his polite audience that "When America has a problem
we will solve it" because we have a genius that built America and
made us the great nation that we are today."
He spoke for about half an hour to an audience estimated at about
8,000. The president of the student body had earlier cornmented that
Nixon couldn't have picked a campus on which he was more "be-
loved."
NIXON TOLD THE STUDENTS they were fortunate enough to
live in the best country in the world and the best time in history.
