ALOU'S RBI DOUBLE IN NINTH
Yanks nip Tigers, 6-5

Hail to the victor!
Randy Logan, Michigan's All-American defensive back, was
named as the school's Senior Athlete of the Year at a dinner
sponsored by the Ann Arbor Quarterback Club last Tuesday night.
Logan was awarded the honor, bestowed upon him by his fellow
athletes, over wrestler Mitch Mendrygal and hurdler Godfrey
Murray.
Logan was co-captain last year and was named as the
team's Most Valuable Player. Drafted by the Eagles in the third
round, he will join the Philadelphia training camp next month.
Ernie D, where are you?
The Buffalo Braves must -be wondering out loud to them-
selves these days. They announced early yesterday that Provi-
dence star Ernie DiGregorio had signed a multi-year, multi-
dollar contract with the NBA franchise. That statement came
from the lips of Braves' president Paul Snyder and General
Manager Eddie Donovan who added that "Ernie D" was on his
way to Buffalo. But to and behold, several hours later it was
announced that no such deal had been reached and that the 6-0
guard was staying in Providence because "problems have arisen
in the finalization of the contract."
Meanwhile, the Kentucky Colonels of the rival ABA, thought
to have been out-bargained for DiGregorio's services, are in
contact with his lawyer, Larry Fleisher, attempting to lure
Ernie to Blue Grass Country.
Pigskin tradin'
There were a couple of small trades made in football yes-
terday . . . Pittsburgh traded former Wisconsin star Carl Winfrey,
a linebacker, to Denver for a draft choice . . . San Diego
acquired the league's leading kickoff returner, Ron Smith from
the Chicago Bears for an undisclosed draft choice.

. . . it's been a little too wet to go to the old ballyard
lately, even if the Tiger games have been played. Let us
hope that good fortune and weather will prevail so that
"Doc" Medich and "Fat Man" Lolich can do battle in dry,
warm conditions at Tiger Stadium commencing at 8 p.m.
.otherwise, there just ain't nothin' happening.

CINCINNATI'S DAVE CONCEPCION (13) turns his back on the play as Houston's Lee May looks for the little white pellet that had
eluded him. Concepcion, a frail .190 hitter last season, is ripping up the National League with key rbi's for the Reds including last
night's game-winning safety in Cincinnati's 4-3 win over the Astros. -
