Hosting the Michigan Invitational last weekend, the Blue syn-
chronized swim team missed knocking off defending champion
Ohio State by two points.
Tied entering the final team routines event, Michigan's
"B" team fell .5 of a point short of defeating Bowling Green's I
routine. The victory would have given the Wolverines the s
overall championship.
The swimmers were led by senior Sue Neu who finished sec-f
ond in the solo event and third in the senior figures.t
In the novice event, the women placed five in the top seven
with Diane Urbin taking top honors.t
"It was the closest anyone has come to them (OSU) in f
years," commented coach Joyce Lindeman. "Last time we F
played them we were 26 points behind."
Finishing behind OSU's 79 points and Michigan's 77 were:t
Bowling Green 22, Western Illinois 22, Miami, Ohio, 10, York 4,
