THE BLACK MATTERS
COMMITTEE AT THE
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
PRESENTS
THE FIRST IN A SERIES
OF DISCUSSIONS:
WHAT HAS
HAPPENED TO
BLACK
CONSCIOUSNESS:
COLONIALISM AT
T THE UNIVERSITY
OF MICHIGAN
Wednesday, November 15
7:30 p.m.
Faccity Club Lounge
Main floor Michigan Union
We feel that alI Blacks at the Uni-
versity of Michigan are in a pre-
carious position: in the process of
acquiring needed (?) skills, it is dif-
ficult for us not to adopt the values
of this iiddle class white institu-
tion. The ptrpose behind this meet-
ing i.5 to bring together Blacks wh
n their capacities as undergraduates
graduates, faculty, staff, etc., can
continue to recognize in their ex-
peiences tme nature of this society
what is demanded of them, an
what they must demand of them-
selves. Perhaps In discussions suct
as these, Blacks can begin to make
some critical sense of their experi-
ences in the university by using some
interpretations of colonialism as a
model. 85F5
