switch his lines around t h is
week. The Wolverine mentor
isn't entirely sure how they will
go against Michigan Tech next
weekend but admits "It's nice
to stay with your lines."
The major change last week
came when he moved Bernie
Gagnon from center to right
wing, Rick Malette f r o m left
wing to center and Michel Jar-
ry from left wing to right wing.
This line scored three of Michi-
gan's four goals Saturday night.
"It helped Malette," said Ren-
frew, "and Bernie seemed to play
better on the wing."
Nevertheless, Renfrew w a s
taking pride in his entire team
when he said, "It takes a good
bunch of athletes to come pack
as we did Saturday."

Michigan is going to have to
win a lot more often, though, if
they hope to make it into the
playoifs and the schedule is not
on their side.
This week it's Michigan Tech,
far and away the best team in
the WCHA this year, then it's
two games away against Wis-
consin.
After a weekend "breather"
against non-conference foe Notre
Dame, it's up to Minnesota to
face the Gophers in a head to
head duel for eight place. inai-
ly Michigan has a home and
away series with Michigan State.
Then in mid-March comes the
WCHA playoffs, "and that's
what we're shooting for." Ren-
frew added, hopefully.

B. Robby named top athlete;
Wings, Rangers trade vets
By The Associated Press
* ROCHESTER - Brooks Robinson, outstanding player of the
World Series with his glove and bat, was named last night as
winner of the 21st annual Hickok Professional Athlete of the Year
Award.
The 33 year old third baseman of the baseball champion Balti-
more Orioles won by a large margin over another veteran, 43 year
old George Blanda, quarterback of pro football's Oakland Raiders.
Robinson, who hit .428 in the World Series and made a number
of spectacular fielding plays in the five-game triumph over the Cin-
cinnati Reds, received 62 of the 146 first place votes and a total of
238 votes cast by a panel of sports writers and sportscasters.
0 NEW YORK - The New York Rangers obtained right winger
Bruce McGregor and gave up defenseman Arnie Brown in a five
player transaction with the Detroit Red Wings yesterday.
Defenseman Mike Robitaille and minor league forward Tom
Miller also went to Detroit while New York re-acquired defenseman
Larry Brown.
McGregor, 29 years old, scored only six goals for the Red Wings
this season.
Brown, who set a Ranger record for rearguards last season by
scoring 15 goals, has scored only three this season.

0 CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Cavaliers traded veteran for-
ward McCoy McLemore to the Milwaukee Bucks yesterday in exchange
for Gary Freeman, Milwaukee's second draft choice in this year's
college draft, plus an undisclosed amount of money.
McLemore, a seven-year veteran, was averaging 11.7 points for
the Cavaliers and leading them in rebounds. Coach Bill Fitch of the
Cavaliers admits, "The trade may hurt us now, but we have to look
ahead to the future and build with youngsters".
Freeman, a rookie forward from Oregon State, was the Bucks'
first pick in last year's college draft.

" OAKLAND - Warren Wells, 28, star receiver for the Oakland
Raiders, was booked for investigation of drunken driving yesterday
for the second time within 24 hours.
He had been arrested by a highway patrol officer early Sunday
on the Bay Bridge between Oakland and San Francisco.
Bailed out of San Francisco City Prison soon after, he was
arrested by highway patrolmen early Monday after a high-speed 4
auto chase on a freeway. Wells flunked alcohol tests after each arrest,
the patrol said.
The athlete was released from jail without bail.
