3. R. Thomsen, B.S.M.E., University of Nebraska,
'58, came to Western Electric for several reasons.
Important to him was the fact that our young engi-
neers play vital roles right from the start, working
on exciting engineering projects in communica-
tions including: electronic switching, thin film cir-
cuitry, microwave systems and optical masers.
Western Electric's wide variety of challenging
assignments appealed to Tom, as did the idea of
Tom is developing new and improved inspection
and process control techniques to reduce manu-
facturing costs of telephone switching equipment,
Tom is sure that Western Electric is the right place
