Government Council at Its Meeting of
March 31, 1965
Approved: That the Student Gov-
ernment Council meeting on April 7,
l.ua oe held at the Gamma Phi Beta
Sorority at 7:30 p.m. (1320 South Uni-
versity).
Approved: That the selection of al-
ternate delegates to the USNSA Con-
gress be assumed by the Interviewing
and Selection Committee.
Approved: That all delegates to the
1965 USNSA Congress be required to
submit to SGC a five (5) page report
with emphasis on how the Congress
would apply to this campus and pros-
pective plans for such, prior to finan-
cial reimbursement for their expendi-
tures.
Approved: That SGC support and re-
iterate UMSEU's call for a University
statement on student economic welfare
by sending the following letter to
President Hatcher:
"The economic welfare of the Univer-
sity. of Michigan student constitutes
one of his primary ;concerns. Such
areas as book prices, student work-
ing conditions, tuition and dormitory
rates, and off-campus housing condi-
tions play an important part in de-
termining the quality of his life in
Ann Arbor.

"A statement of administration pol-
icy in regard to its concerns and re-
sponsibilities for student economic wel-
fare is needed. Such a statement would
facilitate dialogue and action on issues
of economic significance, and wouldi
clarify the University's role as an eco-
nomic force in the Ann Arbor com-
munity.
"SGC joins with the UMSEU in call-
ing on you, as spokesman for the Uni-
versity, to present such a public state-1
ment."
