Soviet Chiefs Favor
Expanded Military
MOSCOW (R)-Soviet military leaders indicated yesterday they
have won support from Nikita Khrushchev's successors for the large
conventional armed forces that Khrushchev opposed.
At the same time a long editorial published in the military
newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda acknowledged Communist Party leader-
ship as the basic foundation of Soviet defense policy. The editorial
discussed issues on which Khrushchev and his military chiefs were
believed to have split before the -
