Two Coaches
Appointsed
Two new appointments to the
University of Michigan athletic
staff were announced by Athletic
Director H. 0. (Fritz) Crisler, ef-
fective July 1.
William A. Dodd, Wolverine let-
terman fullback and halfback in
1962-63 and coach at West Leyden
high school, -Northlake, Ill., the
past two seasons has been named
freshmen coach to succeed Dennis
Fitzgerald who was recently
shifted to the varsity staff.
Richard M. (Rick) Bay, twice
a Big Ten wrestling champion and
a member of three Wolverine
championship teams, has been
chosen as assistant wrestling
coach to aid veteran Cliff Keen.
The 24-year-old Dodd, a native
of Virden, Ill., where he was an
all-state player in both football
and basketball earned grid letters
on two of Coach Bump Elliott's
teams and graduated from Michi-
gan in 1964 with a B.S. degree in
Education.
Dodgers Sign
'M's Schryer
Dick Schryer, Wolverine center
fielder, has signed a contract to
play for the Los Angeles Dodger's
farm team in Kennewick, Wash-
ington.
Schryer was the leading Wol-
verine batter, this season with a
.316 and had the third best mark
in the Big Ten. Schryer, who was
a junior this year, is the second
outstanding Michigan outfielder
in two years to be signed to a
pro contract with a season of
eligibility left. Last year the
Orioles signed Carl Cmejrek, the
Big Ten's leading hitter as a
junior.
