BULLETIN
Los Angeles 10, Detroit 1
Finally making their long-de-
layed move in the American
League pennant race, the Balti-
more Orioles won their fifth in a
row last night, downing the Boston
Red Sox 5-4.
In the National League, the San
Francisco Giants continued their
winning ways with an 8-2 shel-
lacking of the Chicago Cubs. The
Milwaukee Braves outslugged the
Los Angeles Dodgers 10-8 in a
game which saw six home runs
hit. In night games, the Cincinatti

Redlegs withstood a ninth-inning
rally to top the Philadelphia Phil-
lies, 5-2, and the St. Louis Cardi-
nals defeated the Pittsburgh Pi-
rates 7-5.
Other American League action
saw the Kansas City Athletics drop
the Cleveland Indians 7-5 in 12
innings, and the Washington Sen-
ators humble the Minnesota Twins
14-4.
Hyde Wins
Dick Hyde, the recently acquired
submarineballing relief specialist,
got the win for the Orioles, who,
at one point, were behind 4-1.. The

Orioles got one run in the seventh,
and two in the eighth on a single
by Brooks Robinson, a double by
Jim Gentile, and a two-out single
by Ronnie Hansen. In the ninth
inning, with two out, Hyde singled,
stole second, and came home with
the winning run when centerfielder
Gary Geiger and two other Boston
players merged on Brooks Robin-
son's fly ball to short center.
Jerry Walker, traded to Kansas
City from Baltimore, was the win-
ner in relief for the A's. Jerry
Lumpe's two-run twelfth inning
homer proved the margin of vic-
tory.

Dale Long, Chuck Hinton, and
Gene Green paced the Senators to
their win, which moved them into
the first division in the American
League.
Seventh Straight
Willie Mays and Orlando Cepeda
hit homers for the Giants, and
Billy Loes (4-2) got the win. It
was the Giants' seventh straight
win over the Cubs.
Tommy Davis hit two homers,
and Gil Hodges hit one for the
Didgers, while Eddie Mathews,
Frank Thomas, and Joe Torre hit
round trippers for the Braves.
