Social Research
Research is carried on in vir-
tually every department, from
psychology to economics. The In-
stitute for Social Research com-
bines social science research into
one unit, with studies conducted
for private groups, corporations
and the government on a contract
basis. The Survey Research Cen-
ter, one section of the Institute,
samples opinion on various ques-
tions throughout the country.
Large scale studies are conducted
in each presidential election year
to determine voter opinions and
trends. A recently completed
study in the economic sphere
shows consuimer attitudes, have
not changed substantially because
of the recession.
The most common research, of
course, takes place in the library.
stacks where professors continue
studies and Ph.d. candidates com-
plete work on their lengthy 'dis-
sertations.

WIND TUNNEL - The North Campus low turbulence wind tun-
nel is used by the aeronautical engineering researchers to test
aircraft innovations and tentative designs.
