Plaza will be transformed into a
massive (150 vendor) market
place where thousands will gather
to explore and celebrate the rich
and diverse heritage of African
Americans, Aug. 19, 20 and 21,
Education and unity Is the under
lying theme of all the events as the
Museum of African American HIs
tory (MAAH) presents daily pro
gramming featuring the Children's
Village, which offers traditional
cultural arts demonstrations, and
authentic African hands-on activi
ties including mask making and
Kwanzaa crafts for youth ages 5-
15; Cultural programming includes
African Dance Workshops for chil
dren and adults. storytelling, bead-
working and African martial arts
demonstrations
- The film senes In the Cultural
Gallery (lower level) promises to
be Informative and entertaining.
- A step show hlghliqhtlng the
history and significance of Greek
organizations in the African Arnert
can cu ure will take place on Sat
IIrday at 2pm at the main stage.
- Babatunde Olatunji, the most
famous African drummer in the
world leads the list of star studded
entertainers scheduled through
out the weekend. OlatuJI will also
be on hand to conduct a drum
workshop in the the Plaza ·Pit" on
Sunday.
