There was a new face in city hall on May 23,
during Mayoral's Exchange D y, when Benton
Harbor's Mayor Emma Hull and St. Joseph's
Mayor Jeffrey Richards switched pla for a day.
Each mayor also had a chance to preside over the
others commission meeting.
In Benton Harbor, Richards met with city staff
and toured businesses throughout the city, aceom­
panied by City Manager Beverly Brewer, Public
Safety Director David Walker, Police Chief, Ron
Singleton, Commissioners Ralph Crenshaw and
Steve Wooden and local ministers.
In a short speech during the meeting, Richard
said to the commission and residents attending,
"We've worked together in the past and we need
to work together in the future so that everybody
can enjoy the quality of life. We have worked in
many-different ways in the past, but hopefully we
will join hand in hand in the future and step off in
a.,a:lD.8i1ttt!Ji�b ,be ble ttl communicate better
together."

City of Benton Harbor and hopes that some effort
within St. Joseph, along with the surrounding
municipalities.

"Maybe this day will mark a day in history
where we will communicate better and I am to

Richards was present d with a key to the city by
Commissioner Crenshaw and a gift bag containing
a t-shirt, mug and cap with the city's name and
logo from City Manager Br wer.
