Each mayor also had a chance to preside over the others commission meeting. In Benton Harbor, Richards met with city staff and toured businesses throughout the city, aceom­ panied by City Manager Beverly Brewer, Public Safety Director David Walker, Police Chief, Ron Singleton, Commissioners Ralph Crenshaw and Steve Wooden and local ministers. In a short speech during the meeting, Richard said to the commission and residents attending, "We've worked together in the past and we need to work together in the future so that everybody can enjoy the quality of life.
