Along the biblical journey from lavery to
freedom. Egypt to Canaan, came the experience of
self-re pect and elf-determination, which was
exhilarating, but accompanied with th traumatic
burd n of ponslblllty. It was that burden of
re ponsibility that carried Dr. King and Rosa Parks
from Montgomery, to Selma, to Birmingham and the
Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts. We must revive
our spiri . and renew our commitment to moving
forward with hope and not backward through
