What i the differenc be
he n Muslim in America
and Muslim in the EaBt?
. "M lim in the East follow
Prophet Muhammad who was
nt to their people over 1400
y a go." We are followers of
the Honorable Elijah Muham
mad the m enger of God, who
was nt to the Black man and
women of America. It differs be
cause Islam is pecific and tailor
made for Black men and women
of America. The messenger has
to be rai from his own envi
ronment so that he can speak
from an expert point of view. We
are Black people, so our leader
must be Black."
Which leader do you recog
nize?
"We follow the continuing
teachings of the Honorable Eli
jah Muhammad the messenger
of GOO that was sent to the Black
mn ndwo n
What do Mu lims want
and what are their primary
teachings?
"We want complete freedom,
a full and complete freedom. We
want equal justice under the
law .. We want justice applied
equally to everyone no matter
what race, creed or color. Much
of the controversy surrounding
us is the fact that we teach that
by na ure, all white people are
devils. Master Fard Muhammad
(GOO in person) announced to us
that th white man was the
devil. We can prove that by the
Bible and the Holy Qur-an. It
can found in the book of John,
ighth chapter and the 44th
ve e. orne white's have done
good things, but we view them
s the devil doing something
good. According to the messen
ger you have all kinds of snakes.
Garden, Rattlers and pythons.
Some are more poisonous than
oth rs. They are still snakes. It
is not a coincidence that eve
rytime a person of their race
reaches out to help our people
they end up dead, some exam
pI' are John and Bobby K n
nedy and Abraham Lincoln."
It has b n reported that
last year the Ku Klux Klan
was re iponsible for killing
33 African Americans while
African merican kill d
1500 of their own. ome
would question your analogy
of who the devil i . How
would you answer that?
"What you have ju t de
scribed i "Black on Black" crime
and a hatred for s If. That is why
Islam can help u get back what
we lost during lavery. It can
also gi¥ u thorough knowl
edge of ourselv . It will uplift
our mor I tandards and instill
within the Black man and
woman a love for elf."

Many have said Muslims
segregate theme lve from
""it" galllps.and other
organization . Do Mu.'llims
interact with other commu
nity group. If 0, which
one ?
"The Baptist Council of Min
isters have extended a welcome
to us. We are al 0 involved with
the NAACP. They are planning
a Black Economic Summi .
What will be addressed is Black
empowerment, a do for yourself
concept."
What programs does he
Nation of Islam offer young
Black male?
"The Muhammad Speaks
continues progr m is considered
the number one progr m. It is
used to release information lo
cally and nationally. F.O.I.
(Fruits of Islam) is also deriv d
from that program. It i de-
