Thes F edom Schools re b ed on th principI of the
1960 Miss' ippi Freedom chools, which educated Black
youth in poor areas so they could help their communities grow.
This year's Summer Freedom Schools offer five to 18 year-olds
a combination of nutritious, federally-funded meals and aca
demic, cultural and. tional ctivities. Thes schools are
located in sites uch as hools, church and community-based
organizations.
The EBCPTI graduat re commi ed to giving the Freedom
School students a stronger sense of their history and traditions,
while bolstering their academic kills, expr iv abiliti and
self-este m, Evenings and w k n , he EB PTI graduat
work with parents of the Freedom School studen and other
community leaders to address i of conc rn.
