Walk For Warmth
The VanCasCap, a Community
Action Agency serving Berrien,
Cass, and Van Buren Counties will
be participating in the tatewide
"Walk For Warmth" sponsored by
Michigan Community Action
Agency Association, The Walk will
take pi ce on Saturday, March 6.
Registration begirs at 12 noon .and
the walk starts at 1:30 p.m.
The Walk will start at the VanCes­
Cap office 170 Wall Street, Benton
Harbor to the -Bicentennial Bridge
and back.

John Sydnor, Muskegon
Heights retired School Sup rin­
'tendent was recently named "Citi­
zen of the Year" by the Omega P i
Phi Fraternity. .
He retired as school superin­
tendent in 1990 after serving for
21 years.
He was the Di trict's -tirst
Black uperintendent. He worked
as a teacher-and up rlntendent for
38 years. Congratulations, Jo .
Johnny Jemerson was recently
named Man of the Year by th
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
Johnny is employed by Michi­
gan Department of Corrections as
Administrator over th Parole Of­
fice and Corrections Center in

ing to give the commi sion a brief of

When Jackson came to the podium
to give hi report, Mayor Hull re­
minded him that the commi sion had
just taken a vot on his lack of confi­
dence, but was allowed to continue.
Commissioner George Wysinger
who cast the vote against the resolu­
tion aid, "I know orne people that i
setting on thi commi ion would like
to ee Mr. Jackson thrown out, taken
off thi board for their own personal
gain, I gu s." .
Commi loner Hershel McKenzie
abstained, because h aid he didn't
know anything about the resolution
and if there was a problem ome­
where with Mr. Jackson, all of the
commi ioners should have been
made aware of the problems, not just
a few of the commi sioners,
Elizabeth Minott, 3rd Ward; Ruthie
Harelson, 4th Ward; and Commi -
sioner Steve Wooden.
Charles Cobb, who is also a mem­
ber serving in the 2nd Ward was not
reappointed. .
Mayor Emma Hull tated after the

was going to r ign, but according to
Cobb, h had mention d r igning
because he was planning of leaving
town. but chang d hi mind.

why you want me off" he added.
