Th group arrived at city hall only
to discover that someone had
removed the item from the agenda.
After the Committee of the
Whole meeting began,
Coundlwoman Wilkins told Mayor
Pro-tem Fisher, who was chairing
the meeting, that the Woodcliff
discussion should be on the agenda
and asked who took the item off the
agenda.
"I did," said city attorney William
Balgooyen, Jr. "Someone had to take
leadership on this."

"At whose direction?" asked
Councilwoman Wilkins.

Rev. Edward H. Rogers, a long
, time activist in jail ministry, volun
teerism and promoting racial har
mony was recently named the
recipient of the Fifth Annual Bill
Murray Award. The award was
presented to Rev. Rogers at the Mis
sion for Area People's Annual Din
ner.
He has received several awards
through the years for his service to
the community. He received the Out
standing Senior Citizen Award, in
1988 and Rev. Rogers and his wife
Beatrice received the Jonathon
Walker award in 1987.
Since 1976 he has been involved
in a ministry to inmates at the Mus
kegon County Jail and medium and
minimum security prisons in the
Muskegon area.
John Sydnor a former winner of
the Murray Award made the presen
tation.
Muskegon Heights Mayor Robert
A. Warren presented a plague of ap
preciation to Rev. Willie Burrell, Ex
ecutive Director of (MAP) on behalf
of the Muskegon Heights City Coun
cil.
Rev. Burrell is also a member of
the Council.
