Rogers, a long , time activist in jail ministry, volun­ teerism and promoting racial har­ mony was recently named the recipient of the Fifth Annual Bill Murray Award. The award was presented to Rev. Rogers at the Mis­ sion for Area People's Annual Din­ ner. He has received several awards through the years for his service to the community. He received the Out­ standing Senior Citizen Award, in 1988 and Rev. Rogers and his wife Beatrice received the Jonathon Walker award in 1987. Since 1976 he has been involved in a ministry to inmates at the Mus­ kegon County Jail and medium and minimum security prisons in the Muskegon area. John Sydnor a former winner of the Murray Award made the presen­ tation. Muskegon Heights Mayor Robert A. Warren presented a plague of ap­ preciation to Rev.
