the world at large by estab-
lishing job and other
enterpri .
As a graduate, be sure to
remember your roots and your
background by re ching back,
down, and all around to help
any nd 11 that you can
chieve their goals in educa
tion.
H is not enough to reach
your goal, but you must help
others as you have al 0 been
given a hand by many along
life 's journey!
We must remember that in
America and the African
American community that the
following is too pervasive:
- High drop out rate
- African-American
male are too often labeled
"damaged goods"
- Male teachers, especial
ly African-American, are ab
ent in the classroom.
- Suspension rates for
African-Amerian males are
too high. .
-'Po iti* role models are
lacking in tate approved
textbooks.
- Afrocentric education is
minimal, at best.
- The community fails to
upport local institutions of
learning •
- Education is scarce at
home, instead of being sacred!
- Revenues comi ng into
inner-city schools are inade-
quate. .
- Many, if not most,
African-American s tu
dents/graduate have no life
goal plan.
- Educators, the com
munity, and parents, fail to
hold African-American stu
dents accountable .
. - The lack of education
follows the African Ameficen
male throughout his life.
- Educators at all levels
often believe African
Arne rican students are
doomed to failure
- The uneducated often
ociate with the uneducated .
- Overcrowded clas -
rooms and learning facilities
often lead to miriimallearning.
